Carlos Sainz je moral svoj FW48 zaradi okvare volana pripeljati nazaj v bokse, medtem ko njegov mo\u0161tveni kolega za ta trening, dirka\u010d njihove akademije Luke Browning, sploh ni zapeljal na stezo, saj je ekipa odpravljala te\u017eave z elektriko.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"1\">Ob svojem debiju na FP1 za Cadillac je voznik Formule 2 Colton Herta do\u017eivel zgodnji preplah v 8. ovinku. Nekdanji dirka\u010d serije IndyCar je zdrsnil na robnik, a se je uspel re\u0161iti pred vrtenjem, s \u010dimer upa, da bo navdu\u0161il ameri\u0161kega giganta in preostali paddock F1. Po prvih dvajsetih minutah dogajanja je bil na vrhu razpredelnice Russell s \u010dasom 1:17.353, dve desetinki pred McLarnovim Oscarjem Piastrijem in Ferrarijevim Charlesom Leclercom. Medtem je Gabriel Bortoleto v svojem Audiju do\u017eivel bli\u017enje sre\u010danje, ko je izgubil nadzor nad dirkalnikom v 7. ovinku in moral zapeljati skozi pesek, a je imel sre\u010do, da ni pred\u010dasno zaklju\u010dil svojega FP1.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">Zdelo se je, da se Verstappnove te\u017eave z zahtevnim RB22 nadaljujejo tudi po prvi polovici treninga, saj je Nizozemec svojemu dirka\u0161kemu in\u017eenirju dejal: <em>&#8220;Iskreno povedano, ne vem, kaj naj si mislim. V enem ovinku imam podkrmarjenje, nato prekrmarjenje. Vse se dogaja. Preprosto&#8230; grozno je.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">Verstappen je sicer tik po polovici treninga na mehkih pnevmatikah prevzel prvo mesto s \u010dasom 1:17.047, a je na to skoraj takoj odgovoril Russell, ki je bil od svojega tekmeca hitrej\u0161i za skoraj sedem desetink.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2\">Russellov tekmec za naslov, Kimi Antonelli, je ta trening izpustil, v FP1 pa ga je zamenjal Mercedesov rezervni dirka\u010d Fred Vesti. Mo\u017ea, ki je zdaj na drugem mestu v prvenstvu dirka\u010dev, Lewisa Hamiltona, pa je zamenjal talent iz F2 Dino Beganovic. \u0160ved se je s \u010dasom 1:17.778 deset minut pred koncem povzpel na 7. mesto.
